Bridal Prep - The Wedding Morning

CREATIVE, NATURAL, WEDDING PREP PHOTOGRAPHY

A wedding Photographer from Buckinghamshire

I’m a Buckinghamshire based wedding photographer with a relaxed, authentic style. My aim is to make your wedding day run as smoothly as possible by not getting in the way or causing a fuss. At the same time, I’ll be capturing beautiful, honest moments as I see them happen so that you can remember how you felt on you wedding day forever.

Bridal prep is one of my favourite parts of the day to photograph. There’s a nervous energy in the air that I really enjoy and it’s one of the few parts of the day where there’s not much time pressure. It gives everyone a chance to settle in and you and your bridesmaids a chance to get used to the camera. Within thirty minutes you wont know your photographer is there.

relaxed getting ready photos

Out of all of the various chapters of your wedding day - the wedding morning feels the most relaxed. You will have already booked your make-up artist (or be doing it yourselves) and generally by the time your photographer is there everything is in full swing, or just getting going.

Wedding makeup

I love taking photographs of wedding makeup being applied. It always leads to beautiful, artistic photos like the one above. There’s just something about the angles of the arms and shapes made with the fingers. Also, any good make up artist will put you in gorgeous light so that they can work more easily - which does half of your photographers job for them.

This really does sum up what this part of the day is like for me as a photographer. I can just concentrate on taking photos without worrying too much about the logistics of the wedding and not missing anything.

And that’s how it should feel to you as well really. You should do your best to relax into it and enjoy the process. The rushing about comes later…

THE DRESS

Another iconic bit of bridal prep is the moment when you see yourself in your dress for the first time on your wedding day.

This moment is huge. It’s the sort of moment that might not be that important when you look back in a few days or maybe weeks later. But you have to think bigger. Think about how you’ll feel in twenty or thirty years time. Imagine your future selves sat on the sofa in your dream home. You pull your wedding album out from under the coffee table. Maybe you’re looking through it with you children. Imagine how cool it will be to look back at this moment with perfect clarity and show the people you love exactly how you looked and felt on that day in that time.

I think that’s pretty amazing.

And you don’t need to pose!
Again, this photograph was taken completely naturally and with no intervention from me at all. Just a genuine pure moment.

And it’s no less glamorous for it I’m sure you’ll agree.

emotional moments

You probably don’t need me to tell you this, but it’s always a great idea for your some of your closest family members to come and see you while you’re getting ready. The father of the bride (or any other important person) seeing you for the first time on your big day is a massive part of any wedding. There is almost always an emotional reaction. Your photographer can’t control how anyone reacts to anything but they can make sure that they’re there to capture whatever actually happens at the time.

After a while you develop a bit of a sixth sense for when a moment is about to emerge. Either that or I just perk up whenever a new person enters the room. Greetings are often some of the best bits.

You can see in the picture above that it means so much that to Helen that her dad is there for her on this huge occasion.

Enjoy your wedding morning

The number one rule is that you just enjoy your morning. It’s your wedding - your big day. Yes you need to be organised and keep on top of things, that’s obviously important, but don’t stress. Try your best to relax and have a good time with your friends. You have your best people around you and they will help things run smoothly and make sure you end up going down the aisle in your dress and into the arms of your partner with no additional drama..
